ACES Mobility Coalition Welcomes Two New Members, Pace & AVIA

Washington, D.C. (July 15, 2024) – The Automated, Connected, Electric, Shared (ACES) Mobility Coalition, a leading advocate for the integration of shared-use autonomous vehicles into American transportation systems, is thrilled to announce Pace Suburban Bus (Pace) and Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) as the two newest members of its growing network.


"The future of autonomous transportation is collaborative. By bringing together tech innovators, transportation providers, and community advocates, like Pace and AVIA, we're creating an innovative ecosystem for ACES Mobility. Pace and AVIA will be assets in propelling our mission forward," said ACES Mobility Coalition Executive Director Scott Belcher.


Pace has joined the Coalition as a public sector Board member. Pace is the backbone of Chicago’s suburban bus transportation network, covering over 3,600 square miles in routes. Serving 127,000 daily riders, Pace employs an innovative approach to public transportation giving the agency a national reputation as an industry leader. Alongside its extensive bus network, Pace is a leader in the public transit world for accessibility and sustainability. Pace provided ''Section 504'' service to people with disabilities several years before this type of service was required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. In 2006, the company took responsibility for all ADA paratransit in Chicago, making it one of the largest providers in the country. Pace is represented on the Coalition by its Executive Director, Melinda Metzger.

The Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) has joined the Coalition as an advisory member. AVIA is the leading trade association for companies developing autonomous vehicle technology and is a key advocate for safe and timely deployment. AVIA is comprised of companies with expertise and experience in the technology, automobile, rideshare, and transportation sectors working to advance AVs' tremendous safety, mobility, and economic benefits to consumers in the safest and swiftest manner possible. AVIA facilitates dialogue among automakers, tech companies, policymakers, and researchers, and fosters collaboration, to accelerate progress in AV technology, addressing challenges related to infrastructure, regulations, and public perception. AVIA’s work contributes to a future where autonomous vehicles enhance mobility, reduce accidents, and transform transportation systems globally.
